Congratulations to Jerri of Reflections on the Pond. Watch her in all her fabulocity, talking about her new book, Fireplaces, here. A big round of bloggy applause! Everyone go out and buy a copy for your coffee table!
Speaking of fireplaces, that's a great writing prompt.
"The fireplace......."

Love the prompt! Love Jerri! Love fireplaces! Love you! PERIOD!
The fireplace(s) desperately need an expert check-up to make sure they make it through this winter.
Thanks for the reminder!
The fireplace crackles, spits, pops. Flames leap, dance, lick their lips. Below, the wood glows with pride at a job well done.
The fireplace is in New Brunswick; in the house with the wide plank floors, wavy plaster walls, and a backyard full of rasberry and rose brambles. And even though there is enough snow to bury our cars, doors and roads every winter in New Brunswick, and despite the fierce North Eastern wind which laughs at mere walls and howls right through them, it is the winter I miss the most in New Brunswick. Because, the fireplace is in New Brunswick.
The fireplace was set just so with four perfectly-shaped logs, that looked like they'd been bought recently at a grocery store by the owner who was trying to sell his house. We laughed later with him about this, because when we had first seen the logs at the viewing we'd said to ourselves, "Oh man, we'll have to put a gas insert in." And he had no doubt looked at the fireplace as he was stacking the perfect teepee-shape and thought to himself, "Boy I love this natural fireplace"!
