In the search to heal my child I have met so many amazing mothers. Yesterday, I talked on the phone for hours with a woman in California who's son is almost 7. He was diagnosed with autisim before he was two. His current teachers have no idea he was ever on the spectrum. She wanted to know about vision therapy, but the info she offered me was so much more than the two bits I had to offer her.
Everytime I come across one of these moms, I am opened up to new possibilties and hope. I am humbled by their knowledge of things I don't yet know. We all have little pieces to offer each other and together, our kids are getting well.
My heart swells with gratitude today for the angels I have met in the waiting room at the doctor's office, on the train, and on the internet, who have given me so much information, support, and hope.
Thank you. Each and every one of you.

This reminds me of the day I met you.
What a great story - so glad you made another connection.
It is amazing isn't it? I think that it is so fascinating that as a result of the medical and pharma industries' failure to truly help our children, parents have become this giant, effective network of research, support and advocacy. It is no longer about how we've been failed. We are finding the answers together. My favorite part of this movement is that my child matters so much to complete strangers and that someone only has to mention that their child is on the spectrum and my heart says "welcome".
I feel the same way!
Hey, what have you heard about autistic kids being born on their due dates? Myth? True?
Thank goodness for the openness of people whose children are stigmatized! What a gift you are giving your children by sharing your experiences with others.
Never heard the due date thing Carrie. Riley was two weeks early.
YOU are one of those who gives hope.
:)
Thats awesome !
