In recent former lives, I worked in radio news and as a registered nurse. I blog about one Hot Toddy, two great kiddos, spirituality, autism and whatever else tickles me. Our daughter Riley is nine and has Asperger's,our son Seth is seven. Thanks for stopping! Make yourself at home.
It's spring break. Give her a morning off; she writes and illustrates a book. No help from anyone. Keep in mind two years ago, the mere suggestion of coloring was so anxiety provoking she would scream and cry and throw the crayons. Keep in mind that a year ago, she was not able to write one letter of the alphabet.
And now.....Things for Spring.
The cover page:
She said of the dedication page: "Mom, just because it isn't dedicated to you doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. It's for all of us."
The book is gorgeous; even more gorgeous is knowing all of the tears, hugs, patience, back-rubbing and time sweet time to get there.
What a wonderful girl. She has caught my heart - she reminds me so much of my girl with autism, 8.
Love your blog. It gets me going every morning. Thank you so much. Maybe you could get that published? They have those little presses for parents for cards, scrapbooks? I daresay you have a keeper.
I want a copy of the first edition. Wow, the details and to her sweetest brother! Ouch, how sweet. It is amazing how many hurdles you've gotten that angel through. good work to all of you.
I am absolutely blown away. By all of it: every color, detail, and word of the book, the loving dedication, the incredible story that has brought her to this moment, and the remarkable future this girl has before her.

This is truly incredible...the sign of a content spirit. River's looking with me and says, "Wow!"

Oh Michelle I love this. This is miraculous and it gives me SUCH HOPE. Thank you. What a remarkable girl.
That apple didn't fall far from the tree, now, did it?
And how's Seth feeling right about now with a book dedicated solely to him? What a rock star!
Love.
She's going somewhere. What a talented, special child you have. It makes the hard times worthwhile, I would think. She's already making you proud. :)
