I've written for Literary Mama,The Imperfect Parent,Cool Cleveland,The Mad as Hell Club and the anthologies pictured below. I'm also a contributor to Hopeful Parents. In recent former lives, I worked in radio news and as a registered nurse. I blog about one Hot Toddy, two great kiddos, spirituality, autism and whatever else tickles me. Our daughter Riley is nine and has Asperger's,our son Seth is seven. Thanks for stopping! Make yourself at home.
As we open our presents of beaded bracelets and handprints and flowerpots and things made of popsicle sticks this Sunday, let us hold mothers of children in war zones in our hearts.
Let us imagine a world where every mother's child is safe.
AMEN, was the first thing that came to my mind too. I pray for the safety of those sons and daughters. We have to get our troops home!! What an awful Mother's Day for those moms. What an awful day everyday. Peace, Eileen
Yes, Michelle. That is so, so true. It is really tragic how many Iraqi children (and adults) are being killed for no reason. Very good point. I just watched Rory Kennedy's documentary and it was so frightening. I find watching news stations from other countries give a much more honest picture of what is really going on and how bad the killing of innocent Men, Women and Children are. Thanks for bringing this up, I can't believe I didn't think of it in my post. I had Mother's Day on my brain and the Mother's of the Troops. BUT, you are 100% correct and it breaks my heart. I hate this war and this administration.
Pray for peace. You are so right to think of the Iraqi children and women and men. I can't imagine what their lives are like. You are so right, especially on a day when we honor mothers, to think of the mothers in the war zone. It's no longer Mother's Day, but I will keep them in my daily prayers. Thank you for this post, Michelle.

Not only our troops, but the innocent Iraqi children. The ones who's maimed and bloody bodies don't make CNN.

Sing it, Sister. I'm right beside you on this band wagon.
God bless us, everyone.
If only....
Pray for peace.
