Lisa Romeo

Check out Lisa Romeo, in Mamazine. Lisa's powerful essay is the first in the Special Gifts anthology I contributed to.

What I love about this interview, besides my mention (wink, wink) is the description of her reading "to do" list. You either get that, or you don't. As someone who is always in the middle of a few books (one on autism, one memoir, one on spirituality, one on neuroscience, etc.) I appreciate that.

We should all post a picture of our nightstands. Wouldn't that be fun?

Thank you Lisa for the mention. It is always an honor when someone throws a few kind words in my direction, especially a person as writerly as yourself!

I like her. Her face is one that I know, though I don't personally know her. Does that make sense?
Just ordered the Special Gifts book per your plug; has anyone read Elephant in the Playrooom ? Amazon.com told me to buy them both together. I sometimes listen to Amazon. Anyone?

Oh - I'm so bad. I usually have about 9 books going at any one time. I love the idea about posting a picture of the books on our nightstands. I'll take one tomorrow and get it up soon.

PS - Just catching up on some of your older posts and I LOVE your real name. It sounds very tribal to me and musical. I think it would be a fabulous pseudonym for the book. And whoever it was that ever made a comment that made you feel bad about that name obviously was a person who didn't have a clue. Our names don't make us, we make our own names. Even if you change your name, I'll forever think of the word "advocate" when I think of the name Michelle. Whatever name you choose will take on your character, not change your character.

I've been looking for a good book to read and she had a few great suggestions. Yay.

P.S. Michelle, your blog is my fav too!

The nightstand, the hall chair, the bathroom shelf, the cedar chest by the window. . . sometimes I realize I have been reading a few pages at a time of one book or the other for more than a year. If only we could read more than one book at a time.

Hi and thanks for the kind words about me. Isn't it funny that when we want something new to read we can wander a bookstore aimlessly for an hour, but when another mom/writer mentions what she is reading, we somehow immediately find that that book is just the thing? Happened to me a dozen times lately.
