Who Gives a Tinker's Damn About a Few Extra Pounds?

Lyrics to Big Blond & Beautiful from Hairspray

"Bring on that pecan pie

Pour some sugar on it

Sugar don't be shy

Scoop me up a mess

Of that chocolate swirl

Don't be stingy, I'm a growing girl

I offer big love

With no apology

How can I deny the world

The most of me

I am not afraid

To throw my weight around

Pound by pound by pound

Because I'm

Big, blonde and beautiful

There is nothin' 'bout me

That's unsuitable

No one wants a meal

That only offers the least

When girl we're servin' up

The whole damn feast

Slice me off a piece

Of that hog head cheese

Then take a look inside

My book of recipes

Now, don't you sniff around

For something fluffy and light

I need a man who brings

A man-size,

Appetite

I'll use a pinch of sugar

And a dash of spice

I'll let ya lick the spoon

Because it tastes so nice

I'll keep it in my oven

'Til it's good and hot

Keep on stirring 'til it hits the spot

Because I'm... Big, blonde and beautiful

And Edna girl, you're lookin' so

Recruitable

Why sit in the bleachers

Timid and afraid

When Edna, You look like the whole parade!

They say that

Black is whack

And big ain't in,

Well that's just bull

Cause ladies big is back

And as for black

It's Beautiful

All shapes and sizes

Follow me

Who wants a twig

When you can have the whole tree?"

* Ahem....is it getting hot in here? This is a great soundtrack. Fun for the kiddies, loaded with inuendo for the grown-ups.

We listen to that soundtrack EVERY day. The kiddies LOVE it. You should see Roxie do that number a la Queen Latifah.

We have seen the movie four times. The DVD needs to be released soon- I can't keep going to the movies!

Did I mention that Miss M is going to be Penny Pingleton for Halloween, I'm Tracy Turnblad, and Roxie is Motormouth Maybelle? My Gay is Link Larkin.

LOVE it! Great message!

I'm struggling to get my arms around hog head cheese! LOVED the musical and agree, the lyrics to the songs are fantastic!

By the time it's out on DVD Riley should be just about ready. Slow and steady here to prepare for movies.

She's got the soundtrack memorized, has seen some videos on You Tube. Loves it but movies are scary. Too noisy and the previews are always too frightening.

Carrie, I'll send you some hog head cheese. It'll be sitting on your doorstep in the hot sun.

I can smell it from here!

LOVED the movie and the Broadway show. The songs are so great and always get us all singing and bopping. At the show, we were all up on our feet, clappin and singing, "you can't stop the beat." Bruce Valanch (sp?) played Edna, he was a riot. Hannah got her picture with him after the show. Love the line, "if you don't like the way I look, well, I just don't give a damn, cause the world keeps spinning round and round and....." Totally cool and upbeat movie and show, the best!

love that movie.
(although Travolta kind of gave me the creeps in it ...)

My ex-sister in law was in the original. "Shake Your Tail Feathers" was sung by numerous family members at least once per day.
