The following was read during the service at the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland, which I visited today:
We need one another when we would mourn and be comforted.
We need one another when we are in trouble and afraid.
We need one another when we are in despair, in temptation, and need to be recalled to our best selves again.
We need one another when we would accomplish some great purpose, and cannot do it alone. We need one another in the hour of success, when we look for someone to share our triumphs.
We need one another in the hour of our defeat, when with encouragement we might endure, and stand again. We need one another when we come to die, and would have gentle hands prepare us for the journey.
All our lives we are in need, and others are in need of us.

Oh dear, I sat in a Catholic church and was told.... was told.... was told.... well, it had zero impact on me so I don't know what the heck I wsa told. One of those young priests who secretly longs to be a philosophy professor and so bores you to death. Beats the other young (and hot) priest in the Parish who talked for 20 minutes about celibacy, and told any one who had premarital sex and was engaved to go celibate for 2 years before getting married. I'm sure he saw my face - we sit in the front pew. Unitarians. Hmmmmm.
