When my brain is fuzzy from writing I take a break to look at art. Every week I check out a few oversized books from the library. I am not picky. Sometimes favorites. Sometimes artists/photographers I've never heard of. Rarely do I read the texts.
Sitting in my little chaise, headphones on, sipping tea, I allow myself the luxury of just looking.
No Art History 101 test to study for.
I have amazing libraries nearby with unending supplies of inspiration and I have time to write.
I have warmth, good food, shelter and love.
Inhale. Ahhh......
Nothing like a good art break, (and a chocolate chip cookie) to fill you up.
I am a lucky woman.

Hi Michelle,
I enjoy reading your blog and others that you've linked to associated with autism in children, etc.
While this is not directly associated with your post here, I came across a blog the other day and found this particular post very inspiring. I thought you might appreciate it:

Take care and stay warm!

Oh wow, I so agree with you Michelle. Art (and poetry) are like food for the soul. I can't remember the last time I allowed myself the luxury of looking through a book of art; come to think of it, I spent lots of time doing this as a child. My parents had books of classic art and pen and ink drawings, etc.
Thanks for the post. I have a lot of Maxwell Parrish art that I also adore.
DOUBLE lucky because you know you are lucky.
Thanks Marjie. I'll check it out.
I do the same, sans cc cookie when I lack inspiration to paint. I used to be afraid others' work would influence mine in the wrong way, but that is never true. Beautiful art is totally inspiring. I wish I was you sometimes:)
Wow, that lovely bare-breasted painting, coming on Valentine's day (well, that happens to be the day I'm first seeing it)--and just moments after reviewing a link from a friend who enthusiastically sent along word that the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is now online with free access for all--represents a significant drain on my productivity today. But a welcome one. Makes me look forward to heading home tonight to greet the wife with renewed enthusiasm!
She is lovely, isn't she John?
Tell your wife, "no need to thank me."
