Listen to Naomi's husband Zach sing Sleepless, a song written for their darling boy Adam, (who has autism and is also engaged to be married to Riley). The song acknowledges the bravery it takes to face the world with autism and the awe we parents feel for our children who display such courage.
Naomi is an incredible mom. She is intelligent and thoughtful and loving. She is grace personified. I don't worry about Adam at all. Not with a mom like her and a Dad who writes songs like this.
Also worth noting, Zach is the brother to the fabulous Shannon Coates. Yes it's sick and wrong for all that talent to be heaped upon one family, but perhaps my grandchildren will get some of their good genes.

Can't talk now, gotta go see if Zach is into polygamy!
Thank you Michelle. You say such nice things...sigh, I shall now float around all day on a little cloud of happiness.
When Adam was born it took us a week to name him because Zach felt so strongly that his name should mean 'man of courage'. We finally settled on Adam Courage Stephen (Stephen is Zach's dad). we had no idea then, of course, the courage that Adam would need, and shows, each day.
Carrie, or should I say, "Sister-wife", if you're less demanding than me he'll probably go for it. Just let him know that you'd never ask him to clean the washroom and you'd love it if he could go spend some more time playing his guitar....and you are in there like swim wear.
that song makes me sob. seriously.
sigh.
(and, xo michelle - you are so right about naomi. [and zach])
Naomi,
Now I'm stealing your husband AND the line, "in there like swim wear."
I ADORE guitar music AND cleaning. Can you say, "Match made in heaven?"
I find it sweet. I write poems and stories for my family.
Oh Michelle, I agree completely. It is both a privilege and a challenge to know the oh-so-wonderful Hill family.
But I've seen your comments on Shannon's blog and you certainly hold your own in the grace department yourself. They are always generous and loving and inspiring to me.
Thank you.
Aw. Thanks Val!
I'm pretty sure those grandkids will have more than their fair share of genius genes coming from your side too, but just in case, lucky kids!
