Daylight Savings Time

HT woke up at 4:30 this morning to shovel out the driveway so he could get to work by six. The snow is thigh level.

The children started rustling at 5:30.

They used the potty (on their own!!!), and went into the toy room where they played quietly for a full 45 minutes, coming in just once to ask me to tie a string bikini top onto a stuffed hippo.

As I brushed my teeth, Seth looked up at me with his sweet little face and said,

"When my Lightening McQueen car started talking I turned it off so I wouldn't wake you."

They each had a turn on the computer as I did the treadmill.

I had my coffee while they ate breakfast.

We wrote in our appreciation journals.

They played a game of chase all through the house.

They proclaimed hunger and had a snack.

They colored and drew pictures at the dining room table.

They made secret clubs in the living room, dragging a zillion toys down from upstairs.

I sat down at the computer and they interrupted me six (count 'em) times before I even began.

I threatened them.

"If you interrupt me one more time I'm gathering up all these toys you have out and you won't see them the rest of the day!"

HT called to see how we were doing.

I looked at the clock.

"Oh my God. It's only 8:30???"

"Technically, it's 9:30." He said.

Oh - I remember those days well. When my kids were younger, this was the longest day EVER! Hang in there - that extra hour of daylight comes in handy when the weather warms up a bit and they can play outside. But I know it's a tough transition when they're little.

Is it still really snowy? I keep thinking of you guys every time they say it's snowing in OH. You're probably sick of it by now, but to this Oregon girl that doesn't see much snow it sounds wonderful!

My oldest little was a little grumpy from getting up early. I think we should just get rid of daylight saving time. I like consistency for children.

Ah, daylight savings. My kids fooled the clock and slept LATE today! Woohoo.

I miss those March blizzards, they were always my favorite snow storms. Great memories of whole weeks of snow days and later,of driving from Cols. to Cleve. for Dead shows in a March white out. The shows were snowed out, no place to stay, we drove around Cleve. Hts for hours looking for friends. Pitch black and snow glare. Just as we were about to give up, there they were all bundled, trudging down the street!

Every time Daylight Savings Time comes around I try to convince Z that we should move to Saskatchewan. They don't follow Daylight Savings time there. I like that about them.

I totally despise Spring Forward. That extra hour of daylight translates to many (too many) conversations about why it is bedtime when it is still daylight outside.

Oh yes! Sat and Sun? Up at 5:45am. And today? MONDAY. SCHOOL DAY? One is still asleep at 7:00am, the other two just crawled out of bed 25 minutes ago. ARGH! How do they know how to drive me batty so well, my little sweeties?? Got to run for the first bus - 7:05!

(Pssst, I threaten too.... "Shall I unplug the computer?"
