There was a book I needed tonight. Seth wanted to go to Borders. Riley didn't. Todd was working so we couldn't split up.
"Okay, how 'bout this? I call, and if they have the book we go. If not we stay home and play."
Riley says ever so slowly, and with over the top drama, "Great. Because I reaaallllllly want to go."
Zoinks?
Huh?
"Riley, are you being sarcastic?"
She nods, giving me the dimple.
Well I'll be damned.

Love it!
(And did you get the book?)
No M., they didn't have it. Turns out the library will borrow it from another branch for me, so I'm all set.
The libraries in Cleveland ROCK!
hail sarcasm! but um, uh oh. just you wait. ;)
LOVE that she has sarcasm - and I'm not being sarcastic!
sarcasm!! a touch of brillance!
Libraries in Wollongong CHARGE MONEY if you want to reserve a book or get one on interlibrary loan. (My career-Super Librarian mom was APPALLED when I told her.) Sure, it's only a dollar a pop (or at least it was last time I checked and immediately vowed never again to give them the satisfaction, and that was years ago, so maybe it's more now), but it's the principle of the thing.
YAY!!! We've got that over here, too...it's hilarious.
A girl after my own heart!
On the other hand, sarcasm from my child the first time...funny, almost proud moment for me.
Sarcasm the 1,000,324,235 time...starting to become annoying.
Awesome. It is a sign of a true gift.(and that is NOT sarcasm! that is one smart ass to another. )
:)
Oh boy! I'm actually looking forward to my boys learning sarcasm, but I'm sure because I was a sarcastic little smart-ass preteen, it will bite me in the end -- Karma!
I love good libraries! Our county-wide library does that, and it's wonderful, provided you plan ahead, which I rarely do. I always just show up expecting a very popular book to be on the shelves. Though sometimes you luck into these things!
WOOHOO!! GO RILEY!! :D
