Took Seth to the doctor yesterday. He had blood work to rule out PANDAS and also had some alternative therapies(NAET & cranial sacral). Scoff all you want at alternative medicine but today his vocal tic has calmed right down. This from non-stop, LOUD out of control tics all day Thursday and Friday. We'll get the results of the blood draw next week.
Of course there is the possibility that something at school is setting him off neurologically? He does not seem stressed to go. He's one of the most popular in his class and he's doing fine grades wise. He likes his teacher. I'm wondering if there is a chemical cleaner or something perhaps involved? His tics have gotten progressively worse since school started.
We'll figure it out. Thanks to those of you who e-mailed to check in with us.
Riley got her yellow stripe today at the award ceremony after martial arts class. She absolutely beamed! No sibling clapped harder for their sister or brother than Seth did.
Their neurological systems may be fragile, but my children have strong, loving hearts, overflowing with kindness.
Such good kids. Both of them.
Love.

SO HAPPY for Riley and her yellow stripe. And Seth remains in my prayers.
Your kids are strong in many, many ways. They take after their mother. Their dad, too.
Congratulations, Riley! And Seth, I am so glad you are feeling better after your treatments today.
Michelle, I would not be here today if it were not for "alternative" treatment. To me, they are not alternative. They are mandatory--first line.
Are you seeing Paddy O'Flynn for CST?? He's one of the best. He's in Stow. Parents who only look at mainstream medicine and the hideous prescriptions they whip out like the creepy dude in the dark movie theatre are doing their kids a grave disservice. Meds should be the last resort, not the first. Shame most docs have no clue. And parents just listen blindly, not even knowing they have choices. Wonderful parents like you DO. And help others learn their options. Excellent.
KIM
So happy for your good news on all fronts.
I think we too often pass up the alternative, and thats too bad... becuase there are many like you that have found help in the alternative!
keep us posted
WHOOOHOOO!!! GO RILEY!! GO RILEY!!
and having finished my little dance, I have heard of extremely good results with CST. I, like Kim, believe meds are the port of last resort. The thing you do when nothing else works. That's not to say they don't have their place, it's just not my first option every time. Alternative remedies work to greater or lesser degrees and, when they DO work, who cares why or how?
Highland hugs!!
love.
That is sooooooo fantastic! She rocks, he rocks, YOU rock .. I'm so happy she got the stripe!
Hey, Michelle. Haven't been commenting, but I have been keeping up. You're right, they are great kids and it's the heart that counts.
I love that you give yoru kids the care they need-- "alturnative", or not.
They come by their hearts honestly.
;)
My favorite part of this story is the part about Riley's brother proudly cheering her on. The "cards" only held one child for us but I can only imagine the pride a parent feels when they witness their children's love, support, and compassion for each other. You've obviously instilled some wonderful values in your kids. Bravo!
I love your last bit there, about the goodness of your kids.
You will get to the bottom of this.
Such a good mom.
I swear by craniosacral therapy for myself. Thrilled that it's working for Seth. I say, whatever it takes, you go girl!
Love.
