Woke up early this morning to the sound of breaking glass. HT and I flew out of bed, ran downstairs to find the beautiful Christmas tree we decorated yesterday sprawled on the living room floor, water and ornament shards everywhere.
Riley sat on the steps watching, crying and worrying Santa would not come if our tree didn't look pretty. Seth kept getting yelled at for coming too close in bare feet.
HT, sweeping up broken Christmas bulbs said, "You know that donation Cindy made toward the service dog?"
Cindy is the friend who found the kitten downtown and convinced us to take her in.
"Yeah?"
"Tell her she needs to double it."

Sounds like one furry stress ball you don't need. Sheesh. Sorry about the tree.
Love how HT keeps his sense of humor!
We got it back up pretty quickly and easily. After the initial shock, the kids were happy they got to decorate the tree twice.
: )
Ay...darn cat.
Please do tell Riley that Santa WILL come (we've had several years without a Xmas tree here..this was when Salamander was younger and extremely hyperactive and aggressive and prone to launch himself at and into the Xmas tree - if he wasn't trying to eat the ornaments, that is. It just wasn't safe..). As long as there is a cozy spot for Santa to sit down for a bit, he WILL come...
Yup, love too the fact that HT keeps a sense of humor about these things. I'm intimately familiar with the polar opposite of HT's reaction to situations like these...
And glad the kids are now looking at the situation from a 'glass is half full' perspective (good job teaching them, you two..)
Our cats get to visit the tree for 10 minutes of an evening and then they get shut away from the tree for this very reason. Tim has previous for getting stuck through over investigation before engaging brain. Glad I'm not the only one who was misguided enough to credit a cat with intelligence!! LOL!!!
That dog is going to keep the kitten in line.
Gail
and by the way, Riley and Seth, Santa doesn't care if your house is decorated, only that you are a good person. I think he'll be hauling a HUGE sack for you two!
Oh my. Glad things worked out okay. Still, yeah, lock that kitty up at night! Yikes!
We have two cats and they never bothered with the tree. I'm more worried about what Nik will do to it! LOL
oh heavens .. one more argument against a pet in this house .. never mind the first which is that if one more living, breathing thing were to be somehow dependent on me, i do believe it would be the final straw. ;)
Wow! Too bad about the tree. Cats just can't resist shiny ornaments.
Yikes. Yeah, tell her to double it.
Good thing my cat is too big to climb anything or to knock over anything very high.
it's not like i need another reason not to get a pet ... but thanks!
:-)
