Friday Morning Oscars

Have not slept in a few days due to a sore throat/cold.

So in honor of my cold, yesterday morning, HT and I took in the Oscars (on Tivo), before he had to go to work. Bagels and cereal and coffee on TV trays. We keep saying his working evenings will give us the days together, but it never seems to happen. He volunteers for overtime. I'm upstairs writing. We volunteer in Seth's class. One kid or the other is home sick. It's always something. Today we did nothing. Ahhhh!

Here are my random thoughts on the Oscars, a week late:

-Anne Hathaway-adorable.
-Hugh Jackman did a great job.
-Beyonce had no point other than to roll out Beyonce because it's the thing to do. Beyonce belted out a single quick "at last" in the middle of a strangely put together medley, just to tell Etta James to stick it.
-Jolie's earrings and ring. Ick.
-Kate Winslet-to die for!!!
-Meryl Streep-perfection.
-Sophia Loren-were we drunk? She still looks great but what exactly was going on there? And why was the hand permanently glued to the hip?
-Sean Penn-sheer awkward genius and I loved Robin Wright sitting next to him. Are they back together?

Steven Speilberg came out on stage, prompting me to say,

"I love Steven Spielberg so much."

Prompting HT to say,

"If you love him so much, why don't you marry him?"

Prompting me to say,

"If he asked, you'd be so kicked to the curb."

... and we laughed!

We sat on the couch, me rubbing HT's feet. Then switched positions, (it's a long show even with Tivo), and I wriggled in under his arm to watch the rest.

When they cut to a shot of Ron Howard I squeezed HT's hand,

"For the record, I'd marry Ron Howard too."

"I know you would," he said.

After the show, we stood up and danced to the music during a montage of new films coming out next year. A little swing dance from a six week course we took before kids(we're awful, believe me). A little free style. A little of the Cotton Eyed Joe I'd learned just the night before.

I'd like to thank Todd O'Neil, for your amazing performance in the role of supportive husband. A morning snuggled up on the couch with you was good medicine.

I liked your show better than the real Oscars show.

I would have cast my vote for HT as Best Husband and Best Supporting Husband...and for you? Best Director, Writer, Screenplay, Costumes, Wife, and Mother.

I LOVE it! So important that we figure out how to re-connect - even if just for a short time. You and HT made it a priority here. Thanks for setting the example.
