Two Second Place Ribbons

She did it. She was scared because it was all so different. It was an outside ring, different volunteers were spotting her, etc. she started to freak but got it together. There were four in her competition and she took second place in both events.

On the way home in the car, we were congratulating her, and Seth said, "If you watch the video tape, and you hear someone saying, "Go Riley! Go Riley!" it was me.

Well, on the program it said she was competing in "trail" and "equitation." Not being a horse person, I have no clue what that means. Thank goodness Riley does.

Congratulations, Dear Riley. Give that beautiful horse a hug for all of us, too, won't you?

These children are earning their Ph.Ds in confronting their own fears. What an awesome thing! I didn't start until I was in my 30s.

You guys ROCK!!!

"Trail" is usually where you show that you and your horse can be calm, practical, and capable together. As if you were riding on a trail to actually get somewhere, riding with a purpose. It tests attitude and steadiness more than anything. "Equitation" usually means how good you are at the technical aspects of riding -- body position, hand and foot position, subtlety and correctness when asking the horse to do things or go somewhere specific.

As I have commented before, getting our son involved in the therapuetic riding program was one of the best things we have ever done for him. His entire body changes and relaxes. He looks totally coordinated and at one with the horse. I thank God for creating horses!
Congratulations on your daughters success
